Making our film AYMAN had such a profound and lasting effect on all of us here at Deadbeat Films.
Not only did we get a first-hand view of the struggles that refugees from all over the world face when trying to make it to the UK, but we also made a lifelong friend in the process.
Ayman Alhussein was forced out of Syria as a 22-year-old and made the treacherous journey to the UK by himself.
We met him in Calais and four years later we’re proud to say that he's now a valued member of our team here at Deadbeat! Give him a follow and keep a lookout for his upcoming film work.
The film itself just picked up yet another award, as Best of the Festival at the Depth of Field Festival 2021 and we've got exciting news about distribution come very soon! 😋

DEADBEAT BACK IN ACTION WITH SECRET CINEMA
Our Official Video for Secret Cinema’s Stranger Things has been released!
This was our last major Deadbeat Live gig in the pre-covid era, but with a summer looking likely to go ahead, we’ve got all sorts of festivals and frivolities on the horizon!
Congratulations to the team at Secret Cinema for everything they did on this production. Teaming up with Netflix to reimagine an iconic TV series was going to be a challenge, however this was seriously one of their greatest productions yet.
It was great to be part of such an ambitious venture that is truly innovating the cinematic live experience!
THE PLIGHT OF THE SEA GYPSIES - THE EARTH ISSUE
Our latest environmental documentary ‘Bajo: The Guardians of the Reef’ has had a lovely write up on The Earth Issue, with the accompanying photo series from co-director Alice Colfox.
The film has been in some great festivals, from the American Documentary and Animation Festival, An Oscar qualifying film festival in Palm Spring, to the Indigenous Film Festival in Bali. And now you can enjoy it online!
Great work from directors Boris Thompson-Roylance & Alice Colfox

Vinted Makes Waves in Second-Hand Fashion Space with Colourful Spots
Our TV ads for Vinted were the third most watched commercial in the country last month!
It was only behind Snoop Dog and the Meerkats, two of the most iconic ads in modern history!
Fab work from all the creative team 💪

Last week was a big one for a project close to our hearts - 'DANCE FOR CHANGE'!
Director Lily Colfox has managed to complete her fundraise to finish the film about the dance crews of Dzaleka refugee camp!
Read all about the project in this great article by Trippin World - https://lnkd.in/gNZkjJv
(The GoFundMe is still open, with all extra funds going to supporting our friends in Dzaleka as they deal with the recent corona virus outbreak) 🙏
WELCOME TO BRAINTOWN
Last month we collaborated with performance company Svalbard to create a stunning, live-streamed performance event onboard an iconic former lighthouse boat in Victoria Docks.
The performance for 'Join the Docks' was commissioned by Certain Blacks, the producers behind last year’s Ensemble Festival. Svalbard used their signature blend of live music, contemporary dance / circus, and cinematography to explore the human brain and the architecture of the lightship in this beautiful new collaboration.
The event was filmed and live streamed direct from the ship, inviting the audience to jump onboard with the artists and bringing this intimate performance right into the heart of people’s homes.
We have more cinematic live-events to come in 2021 so keep your eyes peeled!
Welcome to Braintown 🧠
THE BIG CHEESE OF SOMERSET
Our latest commercial for Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar is getting some press in Somerset 👍.
It's not every day that you get to roll a giant block of cheese through prehistoric Caves, but it's a lot of fun when you do!

WELCOMING BROOK TO THE TEAM
We’re excited to announce a new member of the team at Deadbeat!
Meet our new Creative Director: Brook Driver
Brook’s experience is diverse and exciting, from being the lead creative on multiple recent campaigns for adidas, to having his first feature film made (which is coming out early next year if the god damn cinemas open!), to building a TikTok profile with half a million likes on it when none of us even knew how the platform worked!
We have already worked on a couple of projects together (keep your eyes peeled for those) and we’re super excited for what the future holds!
